Latest update
Grenada submitted its second NDC in 2020, establishing a commitment to reduce its greenhouse gas emissions by 40% compared to 2010 levels by 2030. The country has a National Adaptation Plan (NAP), published in 2017, which defines adaptation priorities for key sectors such as agriculture, water resources, infrastructure, and health, with the goal of strengthening climate resilience and reducing vulnerability to the impacts of climate change. Grenada is currently in the process of preparing its first Biennial Transparency Report (BTR) and has not yet submitted a Long-Term Strategy (LTS) to the UNFCCC.
This information can be consulted at the following links: NDC 2020 and NAP.
The additional content of this country profile comes from the review completed in 2023, based on the LEDS LAC report and information from ECLAC.
Grenada has a relative target of reducing 30% of its 2010 GHG emissions (251,649 tCO₂eq) compared to projected 2025 emissions (176,154 tCO₂eq), through electricity generation with 10% renewable energy and 20% energy efficiency measures, based on 2010 levels and targeting the year 2025.
In addition, the country aims to reduce GHG emissions by 20% by 2025, introduce biofuel blends (specifically a mixture of liquefied natural gas and diesel), implement gasoline and diesel taxes, and apply fuel efficiency standards for vehicles through public policy incentives.
